Paving the way for Net Zero housing with Octopus
To help promote sustainable living for our customers, we’ve joined forces with Octopus Energy to deliver a successful pilot scheme that will contribute to new ‘Zero Bills’ homes at Ladden Garden Village, a major housing development in Yate, near Bristol.
This will enable our customers to adopt Octopus’ first-of-its-kind Zero Bills tariff, which will see any excess energy fed back into the grid, reducing the need for others to burn fossil fuels.
The properties – part of the 185 homes that we’ve acquired at Ladden Garden Village over the past two years – have been fitted by Octopus engineers with solar, battery and heat pump technologies that should produce enough energy to exceed the requirements to run each home, based on average consumption*.
The Zero Bills homes form part of our long-term commitment to improving the sustainability of our growing portfolio, developed in partnership with a wide range of leading developers and housebuilders.
Ladden Garden Village is a 2,000-home, multi-phase development being delivered by national housebuilder Barratt Homes.
Andy Hutchinson, CEO of Lloyds Living, said:
“As high energy bills remain a financial challenge for households, including those renting and saving for their first home, it’s our aim to help bring down costs and make sure our customers’ homes are as energy efficient as possible. Octopus’ mission to make Zero Bills homes the new standard is a worthy campaign and one we’re pleased to be able to support through this pilot. “We hope that it paves the way for more developments to offer this benefit, as we look to work with development partners to deliver more sustainable homes fit for the future.”
